The Ambassador was a fairly expensive car, so it is likely steel.
I know some of the base model 6 cylinder Oldsmobiles had wooden frames, but some of the larger cars had steel. When they introduced the series 60, 70, 80 and 90 they went to steel frames. Before their naming scheme was standardized, it's anyone's guess.
